Title: The Not So Big Easy
Story continued from Ghost Rider, Vol. 3, Issue #26:
The ex-wife of Gambit, Bella Donna has convinced he and the X-Men to return to New Orleans with her so that she might re-establish peace between the guilds of the Thieves and Assassins. The team is surprised to find that Ghost Rider has been infected and transformed into a member of The Brood. A squadron of Brood attack the X-Men. The infected Ghost Rider attacks Jubilee. Wolverine attempts an attack on the Brood Queen, and in doing so, inadvertently destroys a support beam. The floor collapses.
The X-Men then find themselves in the tunnels beneath the city, which have been commandeered by the Brood. Wolverine and Beast are ambushed by the Brood-infected Ghost Rider, his transfiguration process still incomplete, and therefore reversible. The Brood-infected Ghost Rider then retreats into the tunnels with Wolverine in pursuit.
Jubilee and Rogue discover a chamber full of cocoons containing members of the Thieves and Assassins guilds. They are then attacked by the Brood/Ghost Rider. Fortunately, they are rescued by the combined efforts of Cyclops, Psylocke, Gambit and Belladonna. In an effort to rescue Ghost Rider, Psylocke uses her Psionic Blade to attack the Brood within. She enter the Astral Plane and with the assistance of Belladonna, proceeds to sever the connection between the Brood and it's host, freeing Ghost Rider. Belladonna later dies due to injuries sustained on the Astral Plane. The X-Men and Ghost Rider then embark on a mission to save the children of the Thieves and Assassin guilds.
The story concludes in Ghost Rider, Vol. 3, Issue #27.
